Prisoner Accepts Christ
About a week and a half ago, I met a man named Jake while walking through the yard. He asked me, “when are we going to have another baptism?”
I told him there will be one in January. Then I added that before baptism there is something else that comes first. “Do you know what that is?” I asked.
He replied, “No. Not really.”
So I explained that before you can be baptized, you need to be born again.
He said, “Well, that sounds really good. I want to do that.”
I told him to come to the chapel the following week to talk with me about it. I totally forgot about it over the weekend, but on Monday morning, the same man arrives at the chapel and says, “I want to be born again.”
It was a really cool opportunity. James, our newest apprentice chaplain, was with me that day, and he was able to sit in on the meeting. We went over a few things like what it means to be born again. Then we went through Romans 5:6-7 and Romans 10. After talking about it, he said, “Yes. That is what I want to do.”
So we walked through the sinner’s prayer, and immediately following that, we took some other things to the cross to surrender. He had been in a gang and was involved with a variety of different things. Taking that stuff to the foot of the cross and finding healing was a big deal for Jake.
Thank you so much for your support! It gives us chaplains the opportunity to go into prison and Minister to guys like Jake. Because of you, he and his family will be forever changed. Thank you!
