Volunteers in Ascend, our Youth Discipleship Program, shared the message of hope and salvation in four prisons. The prisoners expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the program. These programs have a profound impact on the lives of prisoners, providing them with a sense of purpose and direction as they seek to turn their lives around.

After these programs, our chaplains followed up with prisoners who wanted to make a commitment to Christ and are now leading them on a path of discipleship.

Ascend volunteers commit to one year of service and discipleship. During their year, they help at the thrift stores, attend weekly classes, learn about community and teamwork, and occasionally participate in special events in prison—such as this one.

In one of the prisons, an attendee approached Arlynn Miller and asked, “When are you coming back? We need more events like this!”

This event was a big step forward for many prisoners who attended, but there’s still a significant amount of discipleship that will take place in the future. We’re deeply grateful for the support we receive for that ongoing discipleship in prison.
