Collection of Testimonies from InsideOut Dad

Feb, 2024 | Prison Ministry, Prison Volunteer Programs

InsideOut Dad is a weekly class held in prison led by Jim Swartzentruber. Jim invites men to share childhood experiences that affect them today. A class they wrestle with the question of “How can I break the cycle, not only the cycle of incarceration, but the cycle of abuse, and lack of fathers in the home.”

Several men recently shared how the class has impacted them.

“I am very grateful to this class. Taking this class has really opened my eyes to being a better father and a better man in general. And going forward I will be taking all those tools I have learned with me to my family to start building healthy relationships. Thank you for your time.”  – Frank

“This program is wonderful, because it’s teaching me how to understand my children in a better way. This program is teaching me the proper steps to have a healthy and harmonious relationship with my loved ones. I’m learning how to make better choices in this program because everyone participated and told their life experiences. I’m also learning how to co-parent with my ex-wife, through having positive and open communication with her, to make better decisions for our children. I’m really glad I got a chance to participate in InsideOut Dad, because it has opened my mind and heart to the importance of being a loving father. I’m forever grateful for the program and for the teacher, Mr. Jim. Thank-you and God bless.” – Adam

“I am very grateful for the opportunity to be able to take this Inside Out Dad’s class. This class has impacted me in many positive ways. It has opened my eyes to the reality of being a good father and how to be a good father. Not only that, but it has also shown me how to have a good relationship with the mother of my children and has taught me to be more understanding with both my children and my partner. Thanks to Jim for his time and dedication to the class. We really appreciate the effort, and we wish for him to be able to teach many more people and share and spread his knowledge. Thank You.” – Carl

“First off, I want to thank you all for everything that you do, Taking the time out of your day to do it, I’ve learned so much in this program. How to be a better dad, how to interact with the mothers of my children. I even learned a bit about myself as well as other people, I have a lot better understanding now than I did before. Thank you for this class. Thank you so much Jim & wife. You all are truly a blessing. I will take what I have learned and pertain it to my life as well as my family’s life and teach them what I’ve learned.” – James

Being a part of InsideOut Dad is an amazing class to start out with! Thank you! I’ve learned so much about how to communicate with not only my children but with their mothers as well. I understand now that we as dads are not perfect, but we do play a big role in our children’s lives. Jim, thank you! There are not words that come that show the amount of appreciation we have for our coming out every week and giving us this knowledge! – Ian

We invite you to pray for Jim as he faithfully teaches these classes each week. Pray that the men would find healing and be open to becoming better fathers for their children.
