By Willow – Former Foster Child

I am five years old. I want to tell you a story about how God answered my prayer. When I was two years old, I was still in foster care, waiting to be adopted. I asked my momma if I could have a baby brother. Momma told me, “Let’s pray, and you can talk to God about it.” For months, I asked God almost every night for a baby brother. I thought that if God created the world and the beautiful flowers, He could answer my prayer.

One day, Mommy and Daddy told me God had answered, and we were welcoming a baby boy into our family! It turned out that while I was praying for a little brother, my birth mommy was already pregnant with him. I could hardly believe it!

I had so many questions. Would he look like me? Would he cry a lot? Would he have visits with our birth mom and birth dad like I did? Would he get to stay with me and be adopted too? Mommy and Daddy reassured me that even though we did not know all the answers, God did. Soon, he came to our home, and I got to be the first to hold him. I was so excited! He looked just like me. He was really cute. And guess what…he cried a lot, but so do most babies.

Recently, we adopted my little brother, Hunter Oakland. He is my best friend, and I love him so much! He is very ornery, and I try to keep him out of trouble. I like to play doctor with him, jump on the trampoline, and sing together. I am super proud to be his big sister and am so grateful that we get to grow up together. God really does write the best stories.
