Role Overview:
Help Break the Cycle of Generational Incarceration
At New Horizons Ministries, our cause is to break the cycle of generational incarceration. As HR Manager, you’ll be a part of that mission by overseeing and executing the core HR functions that support the organization’s people and culture. This role ensures compliance with employment laws, maintains accurate personnel data, and provides a smooth experience for employees and candidates alike. The HR Manager will serve as a key point of contact for HR-related matters and uphold the organization’s mission and values through professional and ethical leadership.
Additional tasks may be assigned at times by your supervisor. Consideration will be given to your current workload and duties.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Approve HR-Related Actions in Paycom
- Review and authorize personnel changes such as promotions, transfers, pay adjustments, and terminations.
- Manage and schedule performance reviews to assess employee performance, provide feedback, and establish goals for individual and team growth.
- Ensure all HR transactions comply with internal policies and approval workflows.
- Monitor accuracy and timeliness of data entered into an HRIS platform (Paycom).
- Collaborate with Payroll and Finance to ensure proper processing of approved actions.
- Work closely with other Stewardship Team members to ensure adequate and fair compensation for all employees and roles.
Maintain Accurate Personnel Records
- Keep digital employee files complete, organized, and secure.
- Regularly audit records to ensure compliance with federal and state documentation requirements.
- Safeguard confidential employee information in accordance with privacy laws and organizational policy.
Manage the Hiring Process
- Review Applications
- Interview Candidates to ensure the best fit for the Organization.
- Provide hiring recommendations to the appropriate supervisor after the interview.
Complete Onboarding Process
- Coordinate new hire processes including offer letters and onboarding in an HRIS (Paycom).
- Conduct or schedule orientation sessions introducing policies, benefits, and workplace culture.
- Partner with managers to ensure new employees have the resources and training they need.
- Maintain accurate I-9 records to ensure employee work authorization in compliance with USCIS requirements.
Manage HR Compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and reporting requirements.
- Maintain and update required labor law postings and HR policies.
- Provide required annual reports to agencies such as EEOC and OSHA.
Approve and Post Job Requisitions
- Create and post requisitions that reflect accurate and appealing descriptions.
- Coordinate with hiring managers to ensure postings align with job requirements and pay structures.
- Manage postings across internal and external platforms to ensure consistency and visibility.
Review Job Descriptions
- Evaluate job descriptions for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with employment standards.
- Update duties, qualifications, and reporting relationships as roles evolve.
- Ensure consistency across similar positions and alignment with organizational structure.
- Collaborate with managers to define essential functions and performance expectations.
Review and Approve Medical Leave Cases
- Evaluate employee requests for medical or family leave under FMLA, ADA, and state programs such as Colorado FAMLI.
- Verify eligibility, documentation, and compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.
- Communicate approval status and leave parameters clearly to employees and supervisors.
- Coordinate return-to-work procedures, including modified duty or accommodation needs.
- Maintain accurate and confidential leave records to ensure proper tracking and reporting.
Workplace Environment
Physical Conditions
- Work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment, often in close proximity to coworkers, supporting collaboration and productivity.
Work Schedule
- Monday through Thursday: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
