Ensure that meals are provided and properties are maintained.

Responsibility Statement:  It is the primary responsibility of the YDP maintenance and Foodservice couple to ensure that meals are provided and properties are maintained for the YDP program and participants. There are several secondary responsibilities that are also included simply because of availability of time.

Key Result Areas:

  • YDP Foodservice- One of the primary responsibilities of this position is to provide adequate healthy meals for the YDP. This includes having supper ready at 6:00 P.M. five nights a week and making sure there are meals in the refrigerator for the YDP participants to take for lunchtime at work. The position has a lot of autonomy but must remain within budget constraints.
  • Maintenance of YDP properties- This position is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the houses associated with the YDP. This includes any general repairs for the houses and all irrigation and yardwork. New Horizons should have all the equipment needed but it is the responsibility of this position to keep them in good repair and accessible. Any major expenditures need approval from the CFO
  • Care and share- Every Wednesday it is the responsibility of this couple to go to Care and Share food bank in both Pueblo and Colorado Springs. This is a great opportunity to acquire quality nutritious food for the YDP and the families of NHM. Great care should be taken to develop and maintain relationships with Care and Share staff and to bring healthy options for our NHM families.
  • Assistance to YDP supervisors- This is a position of influence within the YDP because of daily interaction with the YDP participants. Great care should be taken to never undermine the leadership and authority of the YDP supervisors. This position offers an amazing opportunity to assist the supervisors and keep things running smoothly.
  • Thrift Stores- There will be seasons where this position won’t keep the husband of this couple busy after which he should report to the thrift store supervisor for additional tasks. Whenever possible this person’s schedule should be managed in a way that allows for working in the thrift store 2 days a week.

Compensation:

This is a full-time volunteer position.  This position is exempt, which means that no overtime pay will be paid for time worked over 40 hours per week. 

Compensation will be paid once a month, on the 5th of each month.

This couple should be skilled in cooking and providing meals for a large group of people on a consistent basis with little supervision. The husband should also have basic mechanical skills and be able to maintain multiple properties autonomously. They should display a consistently cheerful disposition and be able to address and help resolve conflict proactively.
