I wanted to share a highlight from this morning at the jail. We were able to get three new volunteers cleared and ready to come in for Bible studies and other activities. As we were taking a tour, one of the prisoners, who is known to be a difficult person, asked us through the tray slot if we were singing Christmas carols. He claimed to be joking, but we took the opportunity to sing for him. He seemed to really enjoy it and even smiled, which is not something we often see from him.
It was a small moment, but it reminded us of the importance of bringing joy and light into the lives of those who are incarcerated. We are grateful to have volunteers who are willing to share their time and talents with these inmates and to be a part of bringing hope into their lives.
